The Old Old City

These stalls do have menus, or you can just ask them to cook anything for you, but I wanted to try what the chefs liked to cook and eat themselves. We would order just one dish and share it and then do a bit more walking around the city and on to the next one. While the chefs were cooking our meal, we would try and talk to them, their English was about as good as my Thai, and I don’t know much Thai. But they were excited to be seeing tourists again and trying hard to engage in conversation with us too. We did this about five times. I really enjoyed it. This was my fondest memory of the whole trip. It was real.
